How to buy a bottle on the marketplace?

Modified on Thu, 6 Nov at 4:22 PM

Buying a bottle on the Whiskybase Marketplace is simple and secure.

You can buy bottles just like in any regular webshop, with one important difference: here, you are buying directly from individual sellers.

Whiskybase acts as the trusted platform that facilitates the buying and selling process, providing security and confidence to both sellers and buyers as long as all transactions and communication take place within the platform.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. Communicate before buying

Before making a purchase, it is always a good idea to contact the seller through the Marketplace message system.

You can ask for:

  • Extra photos of the bottle or packaging

  • More details about the condition

  • Shipping information or costs

Keeping a clear line of communication helps you feel confident before placing your order and avoids misunderstandings later.

2. Add bottles to your basket and checkout

Once you have found the bottle you want, click "Add to basket"
Then go to your shopping basket and complete your purchase through checkout.

After payment, an order will be created automatically.

You can now communicate with the seller and track the shipment directly on the order page. You can find your active order on your dashboard and also by going to Market
→ My Marketplace → Bought.

Note: We strongly advise that you only communicate through the Whiskybase Marketplace.
Do not complete an order or transaction outside the platform. If communication or payment happens outside the Marketplace, the Whiskybase Team cannot assist with any issues that may arise during the order — including refunds, payment disputes, or lost shipments. Keeping everything within the platform ensures your purchase is fully protected and that we can help if something goes wrong.

3. Confirm your shipping information

Before the seller ships your bottle, make sure your shipping address and contact details are correct.

If you need to make changes, contact the seller through the order page messages.
Clear and timely communication helps ensure your bottle arrives safely.

4. When your bottles arrive - accept order
When the bottles are delivered, inspect them carefully.
If they are in the expected or agreed condition, go to your Marketplace dashboard and mark the order as "Accepted."

This action releases the payment to the seller.

5. If something is not right with the order

If the bottles do not match the description or are damaged, you can decline the order.

This will start the return process, and you will be responsible for sending the bottles back to the seller.

6. Important: Order status must be updated within 7 days after delivery

If you do not accept or decline the bottles within 7 days after delivery, the seller may contact the Whiskybase Team to request the release of the payment.

Once the payment has been released by the Whiskybase Team, the order is considered complete and no further returns can be made.

To ensure a smooth experience, always:

  • Keep communication open with the seller

  • Verify your address and details before shipping

  • Use the order page messages for all communication about the purchase and delivery

Taking a few minutes to double-check details and communicate with the seller helps make every purchase a smooth and enjoyable experience.
