What is the best way to search on Whiskybase?

Modified on Tue, 9 Dec at 11:53 AM

A general search on Whiskybase will show results for whiskies, distilleries, members, and brands. The most relevant matches appear at the top so you can quickly find what you are looking for.

Best quick method

The easiest and most effective way to search for a specific bottle is to use:

• Brand + age
• Brand + vintage

Vintage in whisky refers to the year the spirit was distilled, not bottled. It is often used for older or limited releases.

Examples

Ardbeg 10 Macallan 12Caperdonich 1972

Make it even more precise

If there are still many results, you can add the ABV to narrow it down. This helps separate bottles that share the same age or vintage.

Example

Ardbeg 10 46.0%
Macallan 12 40.0%Caperdonich 1972 52.4%

Search with unique details

You can also search using very specific information such as:

• Whiskybase ID
• Barcodes
• Bottle codes

These details take you directly to the exact bottle.

Use filters if needed

If your search still shows too many results, use the filters on the left side of the page. They help you quickly focus on the whiskies that match your preferences.

Pro tip: Extending your search terms and using filters is the fastest way to find the right bottle.
