How ratings and feedback work on the Marketplace

Modified on Thu, 6 Nov at 4:23 PM

Just like on many other platforms, we use a feedback system. It helps you decide if a buyer or seller is reliable and delivers the quality you expect.

A low feedback score doesn’t always mean someone is a bad buyer or seller, but it’s something you should keep an eye on before starting a transaction.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. Feedback score

We use a 1 to 5 star rating, where 5 is the highest and 1 is the lowest.
You can give an average score if everything went fine but not perfectly.

A score below 3 should only be given if something went wrong, for example if the bottle was damaged, not as described, wrong bottle, or if the solution provided was not satisfactory.

2. Leave appropriate feedback

Use the feedback option to share your experience with the person you dealt with.
Whether it’s positive, neutral, or negative, your feedback helps other members make informed decisions when buying or selling.

Before leaving negative feedback, we recommend contacting the other person first. Explain what went wrong and why you are considering a lower score. Many situations can be solved through clear communication.

Please be aware that once a feedback score is submitted, it cannot be changed. Take a moment to make sure your rating reflects your full experience before submitting it.

If you feel that the review provided is truly unfair, you can read more about it here

3. Leaving feedback for a seller

As a buyer, you can leave feedback for the seller after you have received the bottle.

You can rate the seller on:

  • State of the whisky

  • Packaging

  • Delivery speed

    • Rate the time it took for the seller to hand over the package to the courier, not the total delivery time, since delays can happen outside the seller’s control.

  • Problem solving

  • Keeping appointments

4. Leaving feedback for a buyer

As a seller, you can leave feedback for the buyer after the buyer has accepted the bottle.

You can rate the buyer on:

  • Payment

  • Problem solving

  • Keeping appointments

If everything went smoothly, we suggest giving a 5-star rating.

If an element did not apply (for example, “problem solving” was not needed), simply give the maximum score (5).

5. Good communication builds trust

If something does not go as expected, take a moment to start a conversation before leaving feedback. Most issues can be solved with a clear and respectful message.

We all want to become better sellers and better buyers. Honest communication helps everyone learn, improve, and build trust within the Marketplace.

Your feedback is more than just a rating. It helps the whole Whiskybase community trade with confidence.
